The chair design came from a brief period as a teacher of Design Technology, watching pupils tilting they're chairs onto the back legs, creating terrific stresses in the frame. It seemed to me that a diagonal brace would prevent these stresses and give a very strong and attractive chair design.

This chair uses a strong triangulated construction and flared joints which give them their unique graceful shape and a resistance to 'lozenging'.These particular chairs are upholstered in Liberty 'Ianthe' fabric.
